Treatment Advice – Coronavirus Update

Updated 8th April 2020

TO OUR VALUED PATIENTS AND FRIENDS

Updated 8th April 2020

We hope you and your loved ones are well.

In line with government instructions, all dental practices are unable to see patients in person during this unprecedented time.

Our clinicians and coordinators are working hard in the background to ensure continuity of treatment, embracing technology and postal services where feasible. Once we are able to reopen, our team will be contacting all affected patients to welcoming you back and rebook appointments with extra sessions specifically for our current patients.

With this in mind, we kindly ask you check the relevant section below as this may provide an immediate answer:

CURRENT INVISALIGN PATIENTS

Please wearing your aligners. If you are on your last aligner, please keep wearing this to ensure your teeth do not move, at the very least overnight. Follow our cleaning and care guidelines, ie brush your teeth and aligners frequently, use denture or aligner cleaning tablets as frequently as required.

We are reviewing every patient due an appointment week by week, and where treatment allows, posting out aligners. These should be with you at most 2 weeks after your scheduled appointment. We kindly ask for your patience whilst we co-ordinate this in a manner which is safe for our patients and team.

EMERGENCIES TREATMENT ADVICE & FAQS

Emergencies
If you are in severe pain, whilst we are unable to see you in person, we are doing our best to call any patients to help diagnose and support you through this. If after speaking to a clinician we feel antibiotics would help, we are able to dispense these for you for safe collection.

If you require dental treatment specifically, we are following the latest rules which is to direct you to 111 where specific centres are being created to help with dental emergencies. Admittedly this is not ideal for us to send our patients to do so, and we will be here to support you through this.

As of 8th April the latest advice we have received is that treatment centres run by the NHS are being set up, for Berkshire the closest one so far is London, with more planned depending on the duration of the lockdown.

What counts as an emergency?

Emergency Classification, as we are unable to see you in person, we hope the following helps you receive support as soon as possible:

Urgent Emergencies: Please go to A&E immediately if you have the following:

Emergencies – need immediate guidance, consider calling 111 immediately:
• Facial swelling extending to eye or neck

• Broken tooth causing pain, or tooth has fallen out
• Significant toothache preventing sleep, eating, associated with significant swelling, or fever that cannot be managed with pain killers

Emergencies – Non-urgent: Dentists are unable to help with at this present time due to government restrictions. These may be uncomfortable and please contact for advice, however they are unable to be treated until restrictions are lifted:
• Broken orthodontic wires
• Dentures
• Loose, broken or lost crowns, bridges, veneers or dentures
• Bleeding gums
• Chipped teeth with no pain

NEW PATIENT ENQUIRIES

Many patients are using this time to focus on self-care. If you have any questions, from how to improve the appearance and health of your smile, please call or email us and we will be able to run through our treatment options, including utilising technology to review your smile and provide suggestions and examples of how your finished smile will look.

If you’d prefer to be seen in person, please reach out to let us know. Once we are open, we will be running extra sessions so please reach out and we can add you to our appointment list for when that happens.
